Dr. Alan Baratz became the CEO of D-Wave in 2020. Previously, as Executive Vice President of R&D and Chief Product Officer, he drove the development, delivery, and support of all of D-Wave’s products, technologies, and applications. He has over 25 years of experience in product development and bringing new products to market at leading technology companies and software startups. As the first president of JavaSoft at Sun Microsystems, Alan oversaw the growth and adoption of the Java platform from its infancy to a robust platform supporting mission-critical applications in nearly 80 percent of Fortune 1000 companies. He has also held executive positions at Symphony, Avaya, Cisco, and IBM. He served as CEO and president of Versata, Zaplet, and NeoPath Networks, and as a managing director at Warburg Pincus LLC. Alan holds a doctorate in computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

John Markovich is a strategic financial leader with over three decades of experience working with rapidly growing private and public technology companies across all stages of development. He has directed the finance, accounting, tax, treasury, M&A, legal, operations, customer service, IR, HR, and IT functions for companies ranging from privately held pre-revenue startups to a NYSE-listed Fortune 500 multi-national company with over $1.2 billion in annual revenue. During his career, he has negotiated and closed over 150 debt, equity, M&A, and joint venture transactions exceeding $2.5 billion in value; over a dozen private placements; nearly a dozen M&A transactions; and several international joint ventures. John holds a BS in Business from Miami University and an MBA from the Michigan State Graduate School of Business.

Jennifer Houston is the company’s Chief Marketing Officer, after serving as Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Public Affairs. Jennifer, who has led D-Wave’s global marketing, public affairs, and communications strategy for the past three years, brings more than 20 years of experience in the technology and software industries. Prior to D-Wave, Houston was Vice President of Marketing at Apptio and a vital member of the senior leadership team who led the company to its IPO in 2016. She helped establish Pluck Disrupt, a marketing and communications consulting firm, and built the first digital marketing business at Waggener Edstrom Worldwide, an integrated communications and public relations agency known for its work with industry leaders like Microsoft.

Daniel Ley’s career spans over 25 years in technology sales, sales management and executive leadership. During this time, he has focused on enabling large and small technology companies to achieve successful outcomes, driving technology adoption in the market, and growing revenue. Prior to joining D-Wave, Daniel was Vice President of Global Sales for the Routing Optimization and Assurance product line at Ciena, and Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Packet Design, acquired by Ciena in 2018. Before that, Daniel was Vice President of Solution Sales CA Technologies, Vice President of Sales at Hyperformix (acquired by CA), and had held leadership roles in other technology companies. Daniel began his career in avionics engineering at the Hughes Aircraft Company. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Los Angeles, and a MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California.

Michele Macready’s career spans over 25 years as a technology executive, strategy and technology consultant, and startup advisor. Before joining D-Wave, Michele was Founder of Illume Consulting, where she worked with executives at high-tech startups, global technology companies, and universities to mentor and advise executives, build product roadmaps, and deliver leading-edge technology products in areas including quantum computing and machine learning. Prior to Illume, Michele was a Client Partner at Cambridge Technology Partners, where she led the largest strategy and technology project in their history as part of a multi-million-dollar project portfolio. As VP of Consulting at scientific consulting firm Bios Group, she worked with executives at Fortune 500 companies, using complexity theory to solve business problems. Michele was one of the first Alumni Coaches at IDEO U, and she has helped technology startups and non-profits build innovative technologies and deliver these to market.

Vice President, Quantum Technologies and Systems Products

Mark W Johnson has been involved in the development and commercialization of technology for nearly 25 years. Mark leads the R&D and quantum hardware programs. Mark joined D-Wave in 2005 as an experimental physicist and superconducting circuit design engineer to help develop, build, and deliver the world's first commercially available quantum computer. He continued to work with the D-Wave team to develop and release subsequent generations of quantum computers. Most recently, Mark led the development and delivery of the company’s 5th generation, and most powerful and connected commercial quantum system ever built, the Advantage system. Prior to joining D-Wave, Mark was a scientist with the Superconductive Electronics Organization at the Space Park facility of Northrop Grumman, formerly TRW, Inc., developing superconductive analog-to-digital converters and digital signal processors for communications applications. Mark holds a doctorate in physics from the University of Rochester.

Eric Ladizinsky is a senior scientific management executive with a strong background in physics, engineering, materials, manufacturing and team building. Eric leads D-Wave's technical effort to develop the superconducting integrated circuit fabrication process and is often called upon to evangelize on all aspects of quantum computing. At Northrop Grumman Space Technology (formerly TRW, Inc.), he ran a multi-million-dollar DARPA program in Quantum Computing using superconducting integrated circuit technology. Eric has a BSc. Physics and Mathematics degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and is an Adjunct Professor of Physics at Loyola Marymount University.

Tanya J. Rothe is a member of the bars of California and British Columbia and is a registered patent agent and trade-mark agent. In 2016, Tanya was recognized in The Legal 500 "GC Powerlist, Canada" as being an influential and innovative lawyer who is instrumental in driving the legal business forward. Her innovative approach to developing and protecting intellectual property was featured in Canadian Lawyer Magazine in January 2017. Through her leadership, D-Wave has developed a world-class patent portfolio, catching the attention of industry watchers. In 2012, D-Wave was added to the IEEE Patent Power scorecard for computer systems, ranked fourth, behind IBM, HP, and Fujitsu, each of which had more than fifty times the number of U.S. patents granted that year compared to D-Wave. D-Wave had the top score for pipeline growth, impact and generality out of all 18 companies listed. Since then, D-Wave has continued to appear in IEEE’s annual list of the “technology world’s most valuable patent portfolios”.

Prior experience includes Kasian Architecture, Sierra Systems, and PMC-Sierra. Victoria holds a Masters of Business Administration from Royal Roads University, and a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University. Victoria is a Certified Executive Coach, and is on the Board of the BC SPCA where she serves as 1st Vice President and Chair of the Board Development and Nominating Committee.
