Vern Brownell

President and Chief Executive Officer

Vern Brownell joined D-Wave as CEO in 2009, leading the company through its transition from research into the world’s first quantum computing company. During his tenure D-Wave secured its first customers including Lockheed Martin, Google and NASA, and raised over $100 million in venture funding. Mr. Brownell joined D-Wave from Egenera, a pioneer of infrastructure virtualization, a company he founded and at which he held executive roles including CEO. Prior to Egenera, Mr. Brownell served as the Chief Technology Officer at Goldman Sachs where he and his staff of 1,300 were responsible for worldwide technology infrastructure. He holds an MBA degree from Anna Maria College and a BEng. degree in Electrical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.

Bo Ewald

President, D-Wave International Inc.

Robert “Bo” Ewald leads D-Wave’s international business as President and is responsible for global customer operations for the company.  Mr. Ewald has a long history with other leading technology organizations, government projects, and industry efforts.  He has experience in large and startup businesses having been the CEO of visualization and HPC leader Silicon Graphics Inc., President of supercomputing leader Cray Research, President and CEO of Linux pioneer Linux Networx and Executive Chairman of Perceptive Pixel, Inc.  He started his career at the Los Alamos National Laboratory where he led the Computing and Communications Division.  He has served on the boards of directors of both public and private companies and has participated in numerous government and industry panels and committees.  He was appointed to the President’s Information Technology Advisory Council by both the Clinton and Bush administrations.

Dan Cohrs

Chief Financial Officer

Dan Cohrs is CFO at D-Wave, and brings an extensive and diverse background to the company, having served in senior positions in corporate strategy, development and finance at Marriott, Northwest Airlines, GTE, Global Crossing and most recently at Rentech, Inc. and Rentech Nitrogen Partners in Los Angeles. With experience at both start-ups and multinational corporations, Mr. Cohrs is an expert in global finance and planning, M&A, IPOs and investor relations. He has also served as a faculty member at Cornell University and Harvard University. Mr. Cohrs earned a B.S. degree in engineering from Michigan State University, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in economics, finance and public policy from Cornell University's Johnson School of Management.

Dr. Geordie Rose

Founder and Chief Technology Officer

Geordie Rose is a founder and CTO of D-Wave. He is known as a leading advocate for quantum computing and physics-based processor design, and has been invited to speak on these topics in venues ranging from TED and TedX events to industry, scientific and executive conferences. Dr. Rose holds a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of British Columbia, specializing in quantum effects in materials. While at McMaster University, he graduated first in his class with a BEng in Engineering Physics, specializing in semiconductor engineering. Dr. Rose writes regularly on the blog Hack the Multiverse

Warren Wall

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Warren Wall joined D-Wave with 14 years' experience in senior technology executive positions at Electronic Arts including Chief Operating Officer of its Canadian studio and VP Technology for World-wide Studios. During his career at D-Wave, Mr. Wall has managed all scientific research, processor development, chip fabrication, software development and engineering. His current focus is on key operational aspects including production, service and support, finance and administration. Mr. Wall holds a BSc. degree in Computer Science from the University of British Columbia.

Jeremy P. Hilton

Senior Vice President, Systems

Jeremy Hilton joined D-Wave directly after obtaining his BSc. in Physics from the University of British Columbia. Since 2004 he and his team of engineers and scientists have created a world-class R&D facility and built the world's first scalable quantum processors. Mr. Hilton  also led the creation of the most advanced superconducting integrated circuit foundry, where D-Wave's quantum processors are produced. Mr. Hilton has brought technical leadership to projects ranging from design, model, and test of superconducting integrated circuits to the development of low-noise superconducting fabrication processes, and has led the teams responsible for aggressively scaling D-Wave’s quantum computers. Mr. Hilton is a named inventor on 28 granted US patents.

Eric Ladizinsky

Co-Founder and Chief Scientist

Eric Ladizinsky is a senior scientific management executive with a strong background in physics, engineering, materials, manufacturing and team building. Mr. Ladizinsky leads D-Wave's technical effort to develop the superconducting integrated circuit fabrication process and is often called upon to evangelize on all aspects of quantum computing. At Northrop Grumman Space Technology (formerly TRW, Inc.), he ran a multi-million dollar DARPA program in Quantum Computing using superconducting integrated circuit technology. Mr. Ladizinsky has a BSc. Physics and Mathematics degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and is an Adjunct Professor of Physics at Loyola Marymount University.

Tanya J. Rothe

General Counsel and Director of Intellectual Property

Tanya Rothe holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering (Chemistry Honours) and a Bachelor of Law from the University of British Columbia. Following law school, Ms. Rothe was selected to clerk for Madam Justice McLachlin of the Supreme Court of Canada (now Chief Justice of Canada), and subsequently worked as an associate at Bull, Housser & Tupper, where she specialized in engineering and complex commercial litigation. Prior to joining D-Wave, Ms. Rothe worked as Intellectual Property Counsel at Ballard Power Systems, where she was responsible for managing a significant portion of Ballard's intellectual property portfolio. Ms. Rothe is licensed to practise law in both California and British Columbia and is a registered patent and trade-mark agent.

Alexei A. Andreev Ph.D.

Harris and Harris

Mr. Andreev is Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Harris and Harris Group, an early stage, active investor in transformative companies. From 2002 to March 2005, he was an Associate with Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ where he was exclusively focused on nanotechnology and material science investment opportunities.

Don Listwin

Don Listwin is a venture technology investor.  He invests personally and is a venture partner with Rally Ventures.  Listwin has over 25 years of operating experience including senior leaderships roles at Cisco Systems and CEO roles at Openwave Systems and Sana Security.  He has served on over a dozen public company boards and currently serves with Calix Networks and Violin Memory.  Current private investments include D-Wave Systems, Exara, Plumgrid and Teradici Systems.  In 2004, Listwin started the Canary Foundation which is dedicated to the science and technology of early cancer detection and is currently a consulting professor at Stanford University.

V. Paul Lee is the Managing Partner of Vanedge Capital and the former President of Electronic Arts, Inc. (EA), the global leader in interactive software.

Geoff Catherwood

Business Development Bank of Canada

Mr. Catherwood is a Partner in BDC’s Energy/Cleantech Venture Capital Fund and has been a D-Wave Board member or Board Observer for the past 12 years. He administers the E/CT portfolio in Western Canada and is active on the boards of several early-stage companies.

Steve Jurvetson

DFJ

Steve Jurvetson is a Managing Director of Draper Fisher Jurvetson. He was the founding VC investor in Hotmail (MSFT), Interwoven (IWOV), and Kana (KANA) and serves on the board of SpaceXSynthetic Genomics, and Tesla Motors (TSLA). 

Steven M. West

Mr. West, a 30-year veteran of the information technology marketplace, is the founder and a partner in, Emerging Company Partners LLC, a technology-consulting firm. Currently Mr. West serves on the Board of Directors of Cisco Systems and Autodesk. 

Haig Farris

Haig Farris is co-founder and former Executive Chair of the Board of Directors of D-Wave, and he is the President of Fractal Capital, a private venture capital company financing high technology start-ups and resource service technology companies.
